I have always loved the style lines of the Sewaholic patterns. I even got the Thurlow pants, which I am still to make. When Tasia released this lovely cute top, I just fell in love with it. My only worry was that, her patterns are designed for pear shaped bodies and I am a typical hourglass! But with this not being a fitted top, I though I can get away with it as it won’t need work on fitting it . So if you want to give it a go, please click on the image and it will take you to Tasia’s shop.
Yes, I made two so far and planning a few more. Such an easy and quick make.
Once I got the pattern, I wanted at first to wait for the sewalong, but could not wait. I had to make it straightaway. I cut a size 6 first and made no other modification as the finished garment measurements were fine for mine. Only worried about the full bust as, it was to be a bit tight around that area.
Although, on first top I did not follow the sewalong, the instructions proved to be easy to follow so not unexpected issues arose. I mean if I would have followed them to the letter, but you already know me, I always start doing my own thing . I felt that the top as a bit to tight around my bust, which I kind of expected. So on my second try I knew I needed to do a full bust adjustment.
On second one, the sewalong was in full span. First I did a proper FBA, but I felt that I do not want to add a dart to my top, so went with Caroline’s suggestion to re-trace the front bodice and sleeves but grading from size 6 at the neck going to size 8 at the bust and back to size 6 at the waist. So I tried that! Top seems a bit off because of it now. Think will need to try it with the dart instead and see how that feels. Once that’s done, will make a posh Beclarra top . Until then, here are my first two
