And I finally got round to post about Polly top. Lovely ladies from By Hand London released a free pattern – the Polly top. As soon as I saw it I knew I will own a few of them. I am even thinking of drafting some sleeves to add to it.
But for the first version I made it using the fat quarter I got when I went to the Manchester Craft fair in September if I am not mistake. Been thinking what to use it for. Among my ideas was lining in a bag or waist band or collar in a top or dress. But when Polly came along it was just perfect. Also got some plain cotton from Minerva Crafts a few weeks ago.
I made my first version without making any adjustments other than stitching the shoulder seams at 3.5 cm. and to trace the pattern from bust size 14 to size 12 in the waist.
Now that I finished it the only adjustment is to take in the from piece, true it form correct size at bust and reduce it by about 1 cm at the top, to stop the gapping. Also I made my own bias tape.
I am already planning to make some more. The possibilities are endless. I will get some lovely fabrics (some Liberty pieces are required ) during my visit to London next week, when I will meet Amity – from Lolita Patterns. She promised to help me find the perfect fabric for Sugar Plum dress which I will try to make and enter it into her contest – http://www.lolitapatterns.com/sugar-plum-contest/. Only three weeks to make it. So I already prepped the pattern pieces for when I come back from London to make my full bust adjustment and make it. Plenty of time
